Some of the men referred to have been absent from their units for many month.--, and they may not intend to return to New Zealand. Technically they are deserters, but their oifenco is mitigated in many eases by the fact that tney did their duty while the war continued. They found civilian 'ittroßtious too mucn for them after the armistica iiad been signed. There are other men -who deserted from the New Zealand Forces at Home during the war, and have not yet been arrested. They wilt be brougut to book whenever possible.
