In Worcester Cathedral recently, Miss Lena Ashwell, tho actress, rcoitcd five selected passages of Script,uro. Hiss Ashwell, Who occupied a canon's stall, recited from the lectern within the chancel rails. Though sho stood by the great Bible, sho I'elind upon her memoir and declaimed each passage with deliberation, so that her voice reached the extremities of tho groat building, in which there were between 20i)0 and 3000 people. Following each passage thoro was an anthem by tho Cathedral choir, and a selection oil tho organ by Mr. Ivor Atkins, who arranged tho recital. Two thousand ono hundred and seventy-six aeroplanes and 4fiOS motors hevo been purclmsed from the United States War Department by the Curtiss Corporation, New York, with a viow to soiling them as eommorciol and pleasure vehicles.
