(Sb; Tho Council may charge a fee not exceeding JJI Is. in respect of each such consent. 2. To authorise the Wellington Citj Corporation . to acquire. ' construct, and maintain' short cuts for foot passengers for the purposes of providing more direct access for loot passengers from street to street. WITH a view to assisting in enlarging the range of goods whie.h can bo carriod by Railway from Wellington during the restricted train service,^ the Wellington Railway Goods Transit Committee lias arranged to establish a Central Transit Office, in' Wellington, where nil consignment notes must be presented for goods ordinarily _ dealt with at the Lambton Goods Station. 'J'lie Transit Committee will deal with each consignment note with h view _to reducing the quantities of essential goods which are now being accepted, and also with applications for railago of' any other goods which are at present prohibited and which nre deemed by the ( Committee to be of an urgent nature. Such additional goods will lie accepted for transit Up to tho capacity of the present train .service. . % Consignment notes for all goods are in the first plnce to bo presented at the Central Transit Office, at 48 Customhouse Quay, for review and acceptance or otherwise. The accepted consignment, notes will tharo he stamped and the goods can then be carted to tho Lambton Goods Station in the usual way. Similarly in the case of goods ex private Bulliifii, the consignment notes must first be parsed by the Wellington Railway Goods Transit Committee. It is suggested that senders of goods should first present "consignment notes at the Transit Office," and obtain, approval liefore loading on to carts. The Central Transit Office will open on Wednesday, August G, 1919. Tho Railway Department will be represented by Mr.' W. P. Williams. The 'hours of attendance will be from 10.0 a.m. to noon, and from. 1.0 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., except on Saturdays, when the Office will ho closed at noon. ■ It is imperative that all trucks be fully loaded, and to this end it' may bo found necessary in some cases for consignees to take delivery at an adjoining station. In such cases it will be the duty of the ponders to notify consjgnees of any change in destination stntion. The Lanibton Goods Station is open from 8.0 a.m. to 4,30 pjn. daily, except Saturdays, when it' closes at 12 noon. It is reiiuested that Goods for dispatch "bo delivered at the station early in the flay ami not held over until late in the afternoon.
