London, August 1. Only 550 of tho Metropolitan Police have struck. The situation in tho city is normal. The striko in tho West End was a failure. In the House of Commons Sir Edward Shortt (Home Secretary) said tho polico strike in tho provinces had completely foiled except at Liverpool, whore 300 out of 1700 failed to report.-Aus.-N.Z.
