The Violet Douglas Pennant case, which has been, agitating political circles for many months, has taken a dramatic turn, the House of Lords having decided, by 69 votes to 42, in favour of a Select Committee to investigate Pennant's dismissal from the Womon's Air Force. Lord Stanhope, in moving for (he committee, alleged grave scandals botween Army officers and girls training, as motor drivers, and said aomo returned drunk from London at I o'clock in the morning in Government cars. He added that- tho Government had previously refused an inquiry, fearing these revelations,—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
