MONET MARKET. The Bank of England discount rate on January 12, 1917, was 5J per cent. On April 5 it was reduced to 5 per cent., at which figure it has since stood. OPEN 31AEKET RATES. The open market discount rate for three months' bills ib 5j per cent., as compared with 3J pur cent, last year. Short loans aro quoted at 38 per cent,, as against 3d per cent. last.year. COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Butter.—Owing to tho smaller supplies tho ration has been reduced to ljoz. •Wheat and Hour-Dull. Oats, Peas, aud Beans.—Firm; nnohanged. Tallow—Thero is a fair trade in Australian tallow for present shipment. Mutton, 48 degree. 1055., o.i.f. London; mixed, 43i degree, 103 a. Suga-r.-Gtfanulatcd, 675. 9d, THE METAL MARKET.
