ENTERTAINMENTS
THE DANDIES,
The relincd entertainment given nightly in tho Concert Chamber of liio Town Hall by The Dandies is proving an excellent attraction to theatre-goers. Last night, in spite of Ihe inclement weather, there was an appreciative house, and the new programme was well received. In vocal and instrumental music the company is strong, tho solo violinist, Mr. Harry Cooper, 'beim; particularly good. Mr. Noel Muiikiuan's 'cello playing is also delightful. There are many comedy items in the programme, and those who want to see what Ihe "Pox Trot" is like should endeavour to see Miss Madoline Knight and Mr. Joseph Baxter, in this special dance. Mr. George Livingstone and Mr. Kinjfsley Chapman, the cwnediaus of tho company, do their part well. AH the other members of the company help to provide a very pleasing entertainment.
Dad and Stum and all the Hayseed family of bush children make their first appearance on the screen to-day at Everybody's Thtatre. Five thousand feet of tlieir life and adventures on their wavback selection will be shown, and the film is said to be au excellent production. Well acted, finely photographed, and capably produced, with a delightful mingling of sunshine and sorrow in the story, in which broad comedy, however, prevails picture-lovers are promised a real treat. As Dad Hayseed, Mr. Roy Redgrave if said to be beyond criticism. He is tho "cocky" farmer of the comedy stage, even t" the gait and his indifference to appearances. Mr. Walter Cornock, as Joe, delineates the shy. awkward lover and the much perturbed young husband with fidelity. The story is one of wholesome humour, combined with stem realities of the hardships and privations of an outback settler. The Hayseed family and the Duggans are true to type; and tho whole play delightfully natural. An outlandish atmosphere, both in the locality of the scene and the manners of its inhabitants, transports one into that happy-go-lucky land where large-heaned-ness and good cheer aro not the exception but tlie rule. Seats may be reserved at the theatre.
Mr. Maurice Ralph, representing J. and N. Tait, has been advised that Mr. Harry Dearth, the English baritone (who when the last mail left had given his twentyfirst concert at the Auditorium in Melt, bourne), will leave for New Zealand by th* first steamer sailing from Sydney. He will be supported Jjy Madame Mane Power, the distinguished contralto, and a complete' concert company.
