BOXING
Patrons of boxing in Wellington 'have not had an opportunity of patronising this class of sport for some years, and the announcement of a revival by the local boxing association will be received! with pleasure. In this opening venture the association has secured the two best middle-weights in the Dominion in Heoney and Ireland. While Ireland is wcill-ltiiown to patrons here. Heeney will he making his first apearance. .He 'has lnli'ly returned from active service, amt while away found timo lo take part in numerous contests, finally apearing as tho Expeditionary Force's representative at the National' Sporting Chib, in tho Army;, finals. He is reported to be in excely' lent condition, and opposed to such a vigorous exponent an Ireland is known. to"l)!' there should not be a dull moment in the contest. There will be three nmaleur preliminaries, as follow:—I 1 . Desmond v A. M'Kinlay, five 2-minute rounds; TJ. Mettle v. J. Neil, four 2-min-ute round';; .T. Prince v. G. Kothernm, four 2-miiiutc rounds, and these should keep patrons interested up to the lime set down for the big contort. The box plan is now open at Armits.
