RUGBY

MEETING OF WELLINGTON UNION. The Management Committee of the Wellington Kugby Union met last evening, tUr. W. itoi'iiip presiding. Also present were: Messrs. N. Perry, W. W. Cook, E. Buck, J. Prendeville, A. J. Griffiths, J. London, E. H. Ward, and J. N. Millard. The secretary of the New Zealand Kugby Union wrote forwarding a copy of a, communication received from the English Union respecting tho proposed alteration of rules and the reinstatement of League players. Tho letter recommended it general meeting of the union to considor the points raised 'by the secretary of tho English Union, and on the motion of Mr. Proudovillo it was decided to call a meeting on a date to be fixed later. A complaint was received from the secretary of the Mascot Olub respecting the non-attendance of It was decided to make representations to this Keferees' Appointment Board. A letter was received from the referee of tho Mascot-Wellington fourth grade match reporting that G. Hester, «■ meml»er of the Mascot team, broke his leg, and 'had to be removed to the hospital. On the recommendation of Mr. Ward, it was decided to grant tho U6P of Athletic Park on August 30 for matches in connection with the Schools Tournament. These games will be played as early matches. Permission was also granted for the use of the park on tho following Wednesday, September 3. Owing to tho curtailed railway service it was decided to discontinue sending fifth-class tennis to Porirua to play matches. Tho committee agreed that it wag wrong to expect boys to arrive back in town at 10 o clock at night. It was further decided to endeavour to make pther arrangements to overcome the difficulty.
