ARTISTS' EXHIBITION
Apnreeiahon of the works now beiw» exhibited by the Society of Seven New Zealand Artists in the Paterson Art Gallery at. M Gregor, Wright and Co.'s premises is manifest by the increasing attendance of those interested in art. The seven, whose names are familiar enough to picture-lovers, can have no reason to feel other than gratified with the attention paid ■to their initial exhibition. Jnroughoiit New Zealand the names of Sedgwick. Welch, Bender, Hood, Tiller, iu Donald, and Nicoll rank high in art exhibitions. Each has been represented by some example of his work, and each is prominent as an exhibitor at the animal and sketch exhibitions held in Wellington. The fifty works now on view represent some of their happiest efforts in landscape and seascape, and show a more complete development' of skill in dealing with the beauty which exists in all things. A great diversity of subject matter is handled convincingly.' Bach artist has gone to Nature and selected the subject that appealed to hini and gave material for representation, and each hae interpreted his subject in his own characteristic way. The variety of treatment, inevitable even in a small exhibition, will afford additional pleasure to those who make a point of noting method and technique as well as the scene or objects represented. The exhibition is open daily, and is free to visitors.
