ARBITRATION COURT
ELECTRICAL WORKERS AND TAILORS
AWARDS AMENDED
The Court of Arbitration has filed its decision upon the applications made by the Wellington district tailors ami (ho Wellington electrical workers for'umemlmonts of their respective awards. The electrical workers' award affects all employees within a h'undred-milo .radius of i'c Aro Post Office.
The decision upon the tailors' case is as :■ follows :—
The minimum wage- for men employed on weekly wages, including pressors, is to be £3 15s.
Piece-workcre are, to be pajd Is. 2il. per flour.
When other than weekly hands are employed at Indies' tailoring , "t'he work may bo' done,' «t the option of the employer, either at log rates or at Hie minimum rate of Is. Gd. per hour by tho clock.
When there is a normal avorago output by a weekly employee, and the weekly employee makes more than that amount in tho.ordinary working hours of any week, such employee shall be euiitled to additional wages for such week and for such extra work, proportionate to' .the extra' work done in comparison wiifii the normnl average output, together with an additional 20 per ceitf. on such , extra work. •■' '"
Overtime for weekly hands is to' be at tlie following rates: From 6 p.m. to 9- p.m.. timo and a' half, and thereafter double time'; from G a.m. to 8 a.m., time and a half. '" " '
•For piece-workers, the overtime rates are (o be:—From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., 9d. ner hour exfcrn, end thereaftw . Is. 6d. per hour extra; from G a.m. to-8 a.mii 9d. per lldur extra'. The decision'upon the electrical workers' application is as under:—
Journeymen electricians are to be' paid not less than Is. VJd. per hour.

Any worker "'white employed' about a fillip's boiler, at installing or overhaul-ing-sfciriige batteries oilier than.ignition batteries.' or at work' in freezina chambers while freezing' is being carried'• on,, or at 'repairing " damage dour- by fire, is to be paid Is. per day in'addition to Hie ordinary wage.
Any 'journeyman electrician, who is placed'in charge of tkree or more men. not including apprentices, is- to be paid Is. per day in addition to ordinary 'wages.'
Both of the above amendments are- to. operate from August i next,
