ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
An accident occurred outside Innes's book shop in AVillis Street at about a quarter to five lust" evening. A Brook-lyn-bound car, No. 78, driven by Jlctorliian Mnrshnian, and in charge of Conductor Robinson, was proceeding up AVillis Street when it collided with the Internal Affairs motor-van, which was proceeding in the opposite direction. The motor-van had its right front wheel and its mudguard somewhat knocked about. The driver, Wakofield, escaped injury.
FATAL MOTOR. ACCIDENT, (iv TelesraDU—Press Asinriotion. Waipawa, July 21. John Sharpin, builder, a married man residing at Waiokurau, was killed in a motor accident last night. Ho was found on tho eido of the road with one wheel of ilio car across his neck. It is belioved the steering gear failed, causing the car to go over n. bunk. RETURNED SOLDIER FOUND DROWNED. Christchurch, July 21. The body of the man which was discovered by a lad in the Ashley River and subsequently disappeared, being carried away by the flood, was recovered by tho police, and recognised as that of Walter Allen, aged forty-two, a returned eoldicr of Hiuigiorn. He has been missing since Sunday. He had been eull'criug from the effects of a wound, shell ehock, and insomnia. At the inquest a verdict of found drowned was returned, there being no evidence to show how he came by his deatli.
