SEAMEN'S SECRETARY ARRESTED. Sydney, July 22. Mr T. Walsh, general secretary of the Federated Seamen's Union, has been arrested) for an offence under the Arbitration Act. A conference of the unions concerned in the maritime strike has been opened. —Press Assn. HEAVILY FINED AND SENT TO GAOL. (Rec. July 22, 10.5 p.m.) Melbourne, July 22. Walsh was fined .£2OO and sentenced to three months' imprisonment. The officials of the Federal Council of the Seamen's Unions consider that Walsh's conviction will further embitter the men. Adelaide, July 22. Members of the Seamen's Federation here emphatically protest against Walsh's revolutionary statements. They consider that ho is willing to 6acrifico unionism for notorioty and self-glorifica-tion.
