THE TRADE COMMISSIONER

ME. E. W. DALTON'S TOTJE, Mr, R. W. Dalton, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for New Zealand, has completed his (our of the United Kingdom, but the date of his return to New Zealand has not been announced. The first, part of his visit to Britain was spent at the Department of Overseas Trade in London, where he was interviewed by representatives of many firms interested in trade with New Zealand. He also attended at the offibo of tho London Chamber of Commerce for the same purpose. Mr. Dalton then visited a number of works in the vicinity of Loudon and in tho chief industrial centres, where ho gavo information required by manufacturers connected with New Zealand trade. The Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of British Industries co-operated with the Department of Overseas Trade in making arrangements for tho tour. "During his stay in this country," says the official "Board of Trade Journal," "Mr. Dalton has .been interviewed by about 570 firms', of which 214 were in London, and has visited 82 works, besides having delivored addresses to members of the various chambers of commerce and trado associations. His tour has shown that tho- United Kingdommanufacturers are, generally speaking, fully alive and anxious to develop their trade in the New Zealand market. There is no reason to doubt that when they have overcomo their reconstruction problems, evidences of tho very real difficulties of which were readily forthcoming, they will uso every endeavour to build up a large and increasing trade with tho Dominion."
