MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided over yesterday's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. C. .Wilson was fined io and costs 13s. for assaulting Tram Conductor M. F. Burrnan. Wilson, it wa6 stated, was leaving the tram at the Basin Eeserve and struck tho conductor a blow in the face. On a charge of failing to maintain his wife, John Brown was remanded to appear at Christchurch on July 23. A fine of ,£2 was' imposed on Thomas Drury, who, together with Thomas E. Cassidy, was charged with a breach of' the peace. The chargg against Cassidy was dismissed. On a charge of being an idle and disorderly person Thomas Branton was remanded for a week. Frank Kennedy was remanded for a week on a charge of beiiig helplessly drunk. A fine of 10s. was imposed on George Thompson,/ who was charged with drunkenness and disorderly conduct. For drunkenness, Cecilia Hunter was fined 10s. Three first offenders were fined 10s., and two others were fined ss. each. * Before Mr. E. D. Hanlon, J.P., at the Mount G'Gok Polico Court yesterday, Charles Anderson and Olaf Hansen were charged with drunkenness. Each was fined 205., in default 48 hows! imprisonment. A first offender was ordered to pay 55., or go to gaol for 24 hours.
