LAND FOR SOLDIERS
—-—»- SEPARATE BOARD FOR. CANTERBURY. By Telceraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 17. At to-day's meeting of the Canterbury Land Board the following resolution was unanimously carried:— "That the attention of the Minister of Lands be drawn to the urgent,necessity for more expedition being used in the purchase and settlement of land for j returned soldiers, and that the Minister ha respectfully requested to appoint a separate land purchase board to deal with the purchase of land in the Canterbury land district, to provide land urgently needed for the settlement of returned soldiers who are anxious, to settle on the land in Canterbury." The Commissioner, Mr. Haszard, while agreeing with the resolution, pointed out that legislation would he necessary to rive effect to it. ■ s. . .
