EDUCATION BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING YESTERDAY, The Wellington Education Board met • yesterday. Mr. T. Forsyth (chairman) presided, and there were also present: Messrs. W. IT. Field, M.P., K. A. Wright, M.P., T;. M'Callum, M.F., J. ,T. Clark, J. G. Harkness, A. W. Hogg, G. T. London, T. Moss, ]•], JT. Vomiy, E. I'. Kisliworth, and J. P. Sliand. The secretary reported that the Education Department had authorised grants as follow Addition to lCilbirnie School, ■£31(35; erection of residence at Ballance, .£885; alterations to residence at Oliau, JJ2SG. The Department had asked for ndilional ij, nformation regarding (lie request for the establishment of a separate school at Hatnitai. The financial statement showed that the hoard had a delvt balance on the ctirronl account of „Ktl! on July 12. Government grants now due totalled ,£12.326, and the board had a sum ot .£14,000 on deposit. A letter wns received from Ihe Director of Education slatinfr that the establishment of a technical lush school at Masterton had been apnroved, subject to certain conditions, and that when Ihis school was established the Mnslorton District. High School should be disestablished. The board dealt, with many matters of detail before rising.
