Officers jor the ensuing year were elected as follow :-Presideut, Mr, J. A. Nash, M.P.; yice-nresidents, Mrs. de Latour (TaiIwpb . Messrs. A. E. Pearce (Waituna Mest) and A. ,1. Mahon (Palmerston North): secretary, Mr. 11. C. Le Orange O aJmerston North); committee, Messrs, •I- Jv- Hornblow. A. Lancaster, C. H. Whitehead. R. W. Guy, and a Feilding delegate yet to' be appointed. A large number of remits wns approved for presentation to the forthcoming conference nf .schools committee associations. The remit favouring the consolidation of country schools was. discussed at some Jcuuth. the country delegates considering that the proposal was not practicable, owiiiff lo the difficulties in the Government uroviding suitable means for the Inmsiinrt. nf children to tho schools, and the inconvenience of taking pupils long distances. The meeting held that tile advantages of centralisation did not outweigh this disadvantage, and accordingly rejected the remit.

At a meeting hold in I'alimu'ston this week preliiniuaiy arrangements were iiiadfl for Hie reception of delegates to (ho Science Congress, to be lielil in Palmerstan in January, 1921. On the motion or Mr. L. H. Collinson, it was decided to affirm th« desirableness of holding the conference at I'nliuerston, and the meeting' pledged itseff I" do .ill possiblo to make it a 6iiceess. Mr. W. 11. Mummery was elected secretary to the congress, and the following were elected a finance com-mittec:---Mcssrs. J. A. Nash. M.P., L. TI. Collinson. M. IT. Eliott, J. Linklater, W. T l '. Dunvard, P. C. Freelih, E. 11. Crabb" 11. Scifert, and Major Dunk. Mr. Elioto ■ivaa elected chairman.
