THE STATE OF THE MORGUE
"REGULAR HOTBED OF DISEASE." Allegations regarding the sanitary conditions, of the morgue were made by a witness at an inquest in the Magistrates Court yesterday. "I would like to make a, few remarks before gi™"!? my evidence," said the witness. "The morgue where the "body is lying is a disgrace to New Zealand, -and a regular hotbed of disease. There are enough old boots and clothes lving round about the building •to equip a contingent soldiers. In reply, the coroner (Mr. W. G. Kiddeli S.M.), said that he understood that the'morgue was under the control of tile City Council. "If you have any comlilaint you should bring those facts un« der the notice of the council, he remarked. "I think that if you had been in the morgue as often as I have kva you would not be afraid ot the place.
