At a meeting of the Manawatu Eugby Union at Palmerston North this week, Messrs. W. I'lynn and J. Whisker, of Awahuri, waited on the union respecting the life disqualification imposed on ah Awahuri player named David Teia Cobbler, and asking that tho matter be reopened. According to Mr. Flvnn they had aboslute proof with regard to the incident which led to Cobbler's dir-oiali-ficalion, that tho Western United p'ayer in question, in the first nlace, stiuclc Cobbler, in the scrum. The dsp'.itation asked the union to tako these facts into consideration, especially in view- o;' tho fact that no Court 'iroceedings were pending against Cobbler, and tie union might do something to lighten the penalty. The meeting passed a mo.ion declining to reopen tho matter. Flight Lieutenant A. J. S. Winton, son of Mr. and Mrs. AVinton, of Bourke Street, Palmerston North, who has bten on active service for a considerable time, returned home yesterday. At the time of his enlistment Mr. Winton was on the stall of Dalgely and Co.
