Whilo commending the project, tho chairman pointed out that as far as ho could see tlip Feilding committee were not quito clear as to the exact nature of instruction that would bo imparted. It was by no means clear whether tho school was to be devoted entirely to agriculture. Unfortunately the council had no funds available for the -project. By tho end of October tho debit balance would be close on JCSOOO. The rates were collected almost entirely for road purposes, and the ratepayers should bo consulted before any grant , was made. Next year when the estimates were framed tho matter could be again considered. Councillors spoke in support of tho chairman's views, and tho whole matter was deferred until next year.
