SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
A social evening, under tho auspices of tho Sunday. School Union was .held in The Terrace Schoolroom last evening. - Mr-.' Frank Meadowcroft presided, and there was a fair attendance, of ■ teachers. $10 union's.organiser,:Mr, JR. E. Howe, .spoke, on' his 'three months' work in'tho "country l 'districts. He said ho had, been ab'.o to establish, seven schools, . and to arrange for several more to start as soon as tho weather was suitable. The union hopes to be ablo to keep Mr. Howe constantly .engaged..' Tho parent are very ranch. in sympathy with the idea, but a deal of timo has to be spent in. looking up teachers. Tho schools will have attendances of from nine to 4G„ In. tho school which has JG scholars Mr. Howo has .secured six .teachers, so it is qujto a weK-cnuipp'ed school. .The .larger schools.of the union have supplied many lesson- helps, picturo. rolls, etc., and Mr. Howo is thus abl<S to provide "helps" for the teachers.. . .. ■ An address on'"The .Sunday School's to tho Church" was given by Mr. W. Mill. Mr., Mill said .that tlio ChuTch, instead of training jts ministersto speak only to adults, sliould give emphasis to training them to work amongst tho young people. If they did not havo their boys and girls properly trained there would not he a supply of members for the Church of the future. Refreshments were provided .by tho ladies, who wero given a hearty voto of thanks. Mr. Howo is to repeat his address at Newtown in a fortnight's time.
