CAPITALISTS AND THE FUTURE
Sir,—T make an' earnest appeal to all (lie capitalists of New Zealand ond the Empire, being a small .eajilalist myself. Do they recognise that (he' dnvs of privnto capitalism and landlordism are doomed? I am afraid they do not, lmt nevertheless it is true. CaDilalists cannot advance one single fenable argument to justify iirivate canitnl or private landlordism. I admit they have the power at present. The world has not yet woke ud; 'but they have not justice on their side, although so far tliey have might and power. Are they content to rely solely on might and power? Have the lessons of the last Ave years had absolutely 110 effect on their economic philosophy? Wake up and renli.se the true position before it is too late! ' „
Capitalists are doing 'everything to discourage their clerks and employees from joining unions and political labour associations. Polly! Thev are hend'ii'r for Bolshevism. Why is the Labour Party nf an extreme and Bolshevist tendency? Been use the better educated and the more intelligent of the labour section of the community is nroliib : ted by its mi plovers from joining the movement. Capitalists should consider' ere it is too late' whether it: would not be better to-save 'he State by compelling their employees, their clerks, their commercial travellers. the : r manager? to join the political labour movement rather than prevent their doing so._ How the transition from private capitalism to public, capitalism might be accomplished with the least friction, and the least hardship to the present private capitalists and landlords may be discussed on another occasion.— I am, etc., JUNIUS, JUNIOR.
