* DEMONSTRATION' IN MELBOURNE DIRECT ACTION ADVOCATED (By Telegraph-Press Association-CoDyrisht ■ Melbourne, July 14. , A big demonstration was> made in support of the strike.' Mr. Walsh, secretary of the Seamen's Union, urged that they must have direct action. To accept tho Arbitration. Court would be to confirm the principle of wago slavery. They were going, to get a settlement outside tho Court. If that settlement was not forthcoming, something else would be forthcoming. They were quite prepared for any eventuality. Other speakers supported direct action, and Earned other unions that unless they supported tho seamen's claims everyone would suffer.—Press Assn. PROPOSED GENERAL STRIKE DELEGATES PUSHING THE MOVEMENT. Sydney, July 11. Delegates from Melbourne have arrived to push the movement in connection with the proposed general strike.in support of the seamen. Definite' action is anticipated during tho week. The indications are that the miners arc unfavourable to a strike.—Press Assn. . MASS MEETING OF SEAMEN DEEP-SEA MEN RESTIVE. (R-ec. July 15, 0.55 a.m.) Sydney, July 14. A mass meeting of seamen discussed the latest developments. The Press wus strictly barred, but _it has been learned that tho men remain solid, and it was resolved, in the event of tho Govern. - ment prosecuting any union officials, to call upon tho seamen of.the world for support. Other reports state that tho deep-sea men are restive, and are eager and ready to join their brethren—Press Assn.
