WAITING SHED WANTED
—« AT GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS. Mr. L. A. Edwards moved at the meeting of the Council of the Central .Chamber of Commerce yesterday; "That the attention of the Wellington City Council bo drawn to the inconvenience and bardship caused a section of tram users due to the total lack of shelter and seating accommodation at the impoitant tram junction at Government Buildings; and that'the chamber urge upon the City Council Tramway Board the immediate necessity of erecting an up-to-date complete waiting room of approved design." In speaking to the motion, Mr. Edwards stigmatised as a scandal that at one of the most important stopping-places, outside the Government Buildinss and House of Parliament, there should bo no tramways waiting shed. On cold, rainy days it was positively shameful to see how the people had to huddle under the verandah at Quinton's Corner. There was plenty of space, wide paths and lawns and trees, and not a seat lor anyone to rest on, 60 that occasionally one saw people squatting round the base of the Seddon monument. It was high time that a suitable waiting shed, fitted with all conveniences, should be erected in that I vicinity, j ' ' The motion was carried unanimously.
