SHEARERS AND SHED HANDS £. joint meeting of hie Wellington Shearers' Union and the New Zealand Workers' Union was held on Saturday evening to consider the sheep-owners and Farmers'' Union offer in connection with, the shearing and shed hands' rate for the'l9l9-20 season. The meeting: was .unanimous in refusing the offer made to the shed workers. The rates for shearers were considered reasonable, but .other points.ihad to be considered before an agreement could be signed. The meeting was of opinion that during the war period .fanners had an excuse for some of the conditions, but considered that now that the war was over and there was plenty of labour the demands put forward by both shearers and shed hands should be conceded by the employers.
