M'Kenzie, G.-Frost; ,M. . Luckio, T. Forsyth, J. Hutchison, P. Frascr, C. H. Chapman, W. H. Bennett. J. Glover, W. J; iWipaon, R; A'. Wright, JU'., £.11. Atkinson, ,C. B. Norwood, and J. 0. Shorland. , Tho Financo Committee recommended that .subject to necessary legislation iboing:. secured, • alterations■. should .bo carried out to tho municipal abattoir, at an estimated,cost.of.,,£9ooo,. provision to be made but of loan money. The Mayor said that the Municipal Corporations' Act did'not give the council the power to.mnko alterations except from revenue.- -This: was not a reasonable stipulation.
Die report" was adopted; '•• The Power Stations. .and Tramways Jommittee reported -that for financial reasons it had deferred .dealing with requests for tramway waiting sheds. It had referred .the request of tho Melrose and South. Kilbirnio Tramway: Extension League for the extension of the tramway system into the Melrose district to the City. Engineer for report. The report was adopted. The By-laws Committee recommended that tho by-laws should ho amended to provide that crossings should' he "constructed and maintained to the satisfaction, of tho City Engineer," and that provision should Tie nftido that whero any crossing had been constructed under the provisions of clause.sß (1)-the.owner of any land, if such crossing were.wsed'as an access for the purpose of vehicles to buildings on suoh land, within seven days after notice, under the hand of. City Engineer, should, execute such repairs as might be prescribed in suoh notice. If tho owner on receipt of 6\ich notice failed to comply therewith'he should be guilty of a,n offenco against the by-law, and the corporation might, if it think fit_remov&. such crossing.

The Milk 'Committee asked authority to purchase sonic additional equipment, It reported thnt it hnd received a report from the City Solicitor drawing jit. tention to the fact that "hy the purchase of property from the Wellington Fresh Food and Ice Company the council had removed the objection raised in 1911 to the proposed legislation regarding ■ milk supply, on the ground that the- rights of existing wholsalc vendors, who then aimed to some extent of: providing n complete milk supply to the city, were being taken away, The .purchase of .the property and the fact that this company had in no way carried on operation's jince had -now' completely removed this objection in respect of any fuluro legislation. The' council went into committee' to consider salaries and other matters. When the council rose at 11.40 p.m. the •Mayor stated that it had been decided-to-hold a special meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
