«• AFGHAN RULER SHIRKS PEACE TERMS VICEROY ENDS THE CORRESPONDENCE (By Telegraph-Press Association-Conyrigtit Simla, July 9. The Amir's letter, dated June 29, ha 6 been received. It protests against. the clares that modification of the armistice terms, and urges that a literal observance of them is impossible. The Amir asks for the withdrawal of British troops from Spinbaldak and Bakka,' mid abandonment oi the use of aeroplanes. Tho Viceroy, replying, points ouit that Afghanistan began the war, and also is now anxious to sue for peace. He declares that modification of the armistice terms is impossible, and that it is unnecessary to prolong the correspondence. He directs he Afghan delegates t\ present themselves to tho British lines on tho morning of July 22.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
