Mr. Newton King, New Plymouth, reports:—At Stratford on July 1 only a fair proportion of the stock pens was filled; weaner heifers nrado £2 19s. to £4 7a. for Jerseys; mixed weaners, £2 6s. to £2 9s. Gd.; twenty-month empty heifers, £5 to £5 10b.; store cows, £6 2s. 6d. to £8 175.; bulls, ill 5b.; lambs, 17s. 7d. to 20s. 3d.; empty ewes, 235. 9d. In the dairy yards herds were offered on account of Mrs. K. Howe and Mr. J. Phillips, senr, Considering the rough state of tho weather the cattlo of both, vendors penned up very well, and good sales resulted. Mrs. Bowe's prices were; Best cows, £15 to £20 10b.; poorer conditioned and backward sorts, £3 to £10; bull, £9 10a. On account Mr. Phillips, best cows made £14 to £21; later sorts, £8 10s. upwards; two-year-old dairy heifers, £8 108. to £10 10s. Association Herd liook. but unfortunately tho vendor had only grade bulls running with them, consequently tho fact of the cows being registered was of no value. The herd contained a', largo number of very aged cows, and the young cows were backward, but notwithstanding this a very satisfactory salo resulted, tho herd of 113 averaging £13. BeEt cows made £15 to £25; poorer conditioned and backward sorts, £9 to £12; aged, £4 15s. to £7 10s.; two-year-old in-calf heifers, £10 to £12; smaller do., £6 to £9; yearling heifers, £2 135.; twenty-month Eteore (small), £4 10s.; mixed weaners, 315.; mixed aged ewes (in lamb), 275. 6d.; mixed hoggets, 19s. 3d.; farm horees, £23 to £30 10b. At Omata on July 3 a clearing snlo was held on account of Mr. J. C. Davidson. Tho herd was originally established by Mr. George Were, aud consisted of a very lino lino of Jersey and Shorthorn cattlo in good condition, but several of tho lino were backward.
