CHILDREN'S PEACE DAY
Sir,—lt seems almost incredible that a. Government, iiiul a Minister of Health who is a member of thill Government, should sanction the transporting of school children miles from tlieir homes in tho depth of winter. Jf we. must have our celebrations in the winter season (whicli, of course, is the northern summer) let us celebrate only for the grown-ups, and leave tho children's day till our own summer. My own idea is that wo should hold' oft" for the youngsters iintil tho return of armistice day, Tuesday, November 11, which was tho real peace day. Then the children, who, after all, are tho most important citizens to-day, could have a real outing, and could nc 'catered for as they deserve—God uless them!—l am, etc., JAMES ATTKEN (Schoolmaster), .Secretary Children's Celebration Committee. Wanganui, July 7, 1919.
