PETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL BOARD
Tho monthly meeting of tho Petonfl Technical School Board was hold last ovening. There were present: Messrs. D. M'Konzic, Bedingfield, Corner, A. J. Hobbs. Cox, and Jones. Mr. D. M'Kenzio was elected chairman in place of the Into Mr. J. Cf. Castle. The secretary was instructed to write (<i the widow of the lute Mr. J. G. Castle, expressing tho board's deep regret in the sad loss sustained through Mr. Castle's death. The Director of Technical Education, Wellington, wrote, stating that the number of managers allotted for tho board for 11)19-20 was cloven, made up as follow:— Pelono Borough Council, two representatives; Lower Hiitt Borough and County Councils combined, two; subscribers, 3; Wellington Education Board, four. It was decided that tho subscribing bodies bo written to explaining the alteration in tho number of managers allotted. The. statement of average attendance for tho present year, ns compared: edth Inst voar showed that tho attendance at tlin Polone classes were being well maintained, but in the caso of Lower Hutt the (ittondance had gono down very seriously. .It was decided to draw tho attention of tho Lower Hutt Committee to tho decrease in the attendance, and also to point out the possible financial difficulties that might arise should the attendance continue to decrease. With reference to a sum of .£ls voted some years ago by tho Education Board to tho local board as payment for gas consumed, it was decided to write to the secretary, pointing out the increase in tho consumption of gas, and also the increase in the price of gas, and asking for 'an increase in the amount allowed.
