Winslade, SG. Tho monthly meeting of tho Master, ton County Council was held yesterday. There were present Councillors W. J. Welch (chairman), M'Lauchlan, A. J. Percy, B. Wilton, and H. Toojood. It WM "resolved to hold a special meeting on. July 10 to confirm tho resolution authorising a loan of ,£'looo to pay for the council's share in tho erection of the Waingawa bridge, on the Masterton-Car-tertoii Road. On the motion of Councillor Percy, seconded by Councillor M'Lauchlan, the tender of J. O'Dounell was accepted for the work, the cost to bo ,£BIO7 35., and the time limit to be fifteen months. Tho Wairarapa Hospital Board wrote asking the council to appoint a representative in place cf Councillor h<lo , !, who had resigned. Councillor Toogood was appointed to fill the vacancy. Councillor Percy gave notico that ho would move at next Meeting of the council, "That each riding of the county be charged with interest at bank rates upon its overdraft, such interest to fro lompurnd monthly and debited against tho separate accounts of tho several ridings resepctively." At the monthly meeting of tho lineterton Couuty Council hold yesterday tho report of recent meetings between Councillors W. J. Wolch, D. M'Lnuchlan, mid J. Percy and the representatives of tho Lansdowne ratepayers was submitted to tho council. Tho report stated that tho subject of the meeting was the merging of Lonsdowno with the Borough of Masterten, but after a desultory discussion it was resolved to refer tho matter'to tho county solicitor for his opinion as to whether tho procedure should bo by poll or petition. At" the mooting of tho Masterton County Council correspondence was received from tho icathorston County Council with reference to tho upkeep of tho main 1 arterial roads in tho Wellington district, and suggesting a conference of representatives from the Masterton. Wairarapa South, and Fcatherston County Councils, to take place previous to tho conference with thn Wollitmton City Council, to bo held later on. The chairman and Councillors Toogood and Smith wero appointed to represent the council at the former conference.

Mr. F. C. Everton, retiring headmaster of the Feathorston Public School, was entertained on Holiday by (ho members of the Uiflo Club, of which he- had been oecrotary for a length term. Mr. M. H. Kendall presided over tlio gathering, which took the form of a ernoke concert.
