SALE OF GAS COMPANY'S PROPERTY
At the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon, Messrs. S. George Nathan and Co. offered before a Inrgo attendance of (ho public tlio Wellington Gas Company's property, subdivided into nine sections. The first section offered was Lot 9, facing Courtenny Place, having a frontage of Mft. lOJin. Bidding started nt £100 per foot, and quickly rose to .£l3O, ufc which price it was knocked down to Mr.- 'S. Edilson, the section realising .£4103 15s. Tho adjoining pection, being JNo. 8, having a frontage of 33ft. to Courtenay Place by a depth of 120 ft., also brought ,£l3O per foot. This was sold to .Sir. A. L. .Tohnson, the section realising .£4290. Section 7, containing over half an acre, with a frontage of 40ft. to Tory Rl reel, was passed in at .C 7450. Sections i, 5, and 0, all with frontages to Tory Street, woro passed in at prices ranging from ,£47 10a. to .£54 per foot. ■Section .'!, nt Mio corner of Tory and WnkeQpld Streets, was passed in nt .£2850, likewise Lois 1 and 2, with front- , nuns to Wnkfifiold Street. The unsold sections are now opiin for private sale.
