COAL SHORTAGE AND MINERS
Sir-Evidently the miners and their gallant (?) leaders think they will win the support of the public of New Zealand bv creating a 'coal shortage in the middle of a very cold winter. If they only knew the truth of it they would realise that the people of this oountry are cursing them from one end of the Dominion to the other, and quite rightly so in the name of common sense a few thousand miners who happen to hi misled bv a few extremists should be uermitted to hold up the industries of the country year in and year out it is hard to understand. The time has arrived when all Hie law-abiding people of this Dominion must rise and make their weight felt. If the miners will not give us the coal we will get it witnout their help, and if they still persist i>l "going slow" clear them out altogether We do not want drones here at all The Australian miners should he' left in Australia, as we have quite a bad enough lot to deal with as it \s, without adding any more "I.W.W.s from the "other side." We are all wondering when the Government of tuis country will take a firm stand. _ My advice to the Cabinet Ministers is to make a strong stand now, otherwise get out of office, and give other' men a chance of putting matters right in the right way. No more of this dilljvdallyi«" should be tolerated. The people want coal, and intend to have it, miners or no ™»---^ b^pUBLICO .
