FAREWELL SOCIAL
The members of the 41 Company Senior Cadets (Brooklyn) tendered a farewell social to comrades on transfer to the Territorials in AValdie's Hall on Monday evening. This is tho first function of this kind that has • been held, and it proved a great success. Among those present were Captain William Bell, N.Z.S.C. (Group Commnnder), Chaplain G. "V*. ■ Dent, and Lieutenant 11. C. Smith (Company Commander). Apologies for absence were received from Lieutenant H. JI.. Morris and Sergeant-Major I. King. The company stood to attention for a few moments as a mark of respect for those who have fallen in. the defence of the Empire. The National Anthem then followed, and- proceedings began. Toasts of "The King and Queen, "Comrades on Transfer/' ' Our Visiting Guests," and "Peace" were honoured. Musical and yoeal items further enhanced the enjoyment of the the following contributing items:—Misses R. Lctham, D. S. Stevens, Elliotts, and Messrs. E. Anwsmith and E. Bradley. The boys were addressed by Chaplain(J. W.' Dent, Captain Bell, and Sorgeant-Major Brooks. Chaplain laid great stress on the need for leading good, clean lives, indulging in good, wholesome sport, and he urged the bovs, for the sake of thoso who had laid down their lives, not to neglect their training. Captain Bell asked the boys to do all they could to help their officers, who only had the boys' interests at heart, and, who were over increasing their labours in the company's intorests.
