Itichards, M'Grath, Johnson. . ..Queensland won the toss, and scored a : converted try in the first couple of minutes. The New Zealanders attacked vigorously, and ifwerson scored a try which he converted, and near tho call of. time he scored another try, wlrch was not converted. Final scores; Queensland 26 ' New Zealand 13 •SATURDAY'S GAMES, The first round -of the League competition was completed on Saturday, Athletic meeting tho hitherto unbeaten team, Suburbs, whilst Petone A met Petone B. The first-mentioned match proved a very fine exhibition of the League code, being fast and open throughout, both sides showing greatlyimproved form. The championship points gained during tho round are as follow:— Athletic, ii; Suburbs, i; -Petone A, 1; Petone B, 0.

Campbell scored in the first two minutes. . Almost immediately Bradley, for.Athletic, picked up, and, eluding the opposition, ' scored, and converted tiiu try. Suburbs attempted passing, but Branilpy ' intercepted, and kicked high. Regaining possession he scored, Bradley being successful with the kick. After some fast give-and-take'.play, passing be-' tween Horner, Bramley, Evans, and Moss let the latter over, after a good run down the line. Bradley converted, and he was also successful with two more kicks before lialf-ttme, ono being from the out-line. On resuming, Suburbs attacked strongly, and Dalgleish worked his way , over from a'loose' rush. The Suburbs forwards were playing a great game. During this spell Bradley intercepted in his own twenty-five, and ran right through. lie converted his try. Suburbs retaliated, Spencer scoring. A few minutes' Hater Bradley heat the' Suburbs b-.cks cleverly, and scored his third try; His kick failed for the first time, From the kick-out Suburbs swept all before them. Spencer again scored. A Suburbs passing'Vush next saw Scott get oyer, Campbell converting with a good kick. Athletic rallied, and Meares scored from a long loose rush. Give-and-take play, mostly in Suburbs favour, followed until Dalgleish scored his second trycontinued fast, each side making good efforts to score.
