THE FARMERS AND THE SOLDIERS' CHILDREN.
Amongst the most generous supporters of the Tre.nthiim Scholarships Art Union have been the fanners of New Zealand. A Inrge number of .£-5 books of tickets wos sent out some'time ago (o farmers up and down the country with a request jo each that the book should lie retained ami payment remitted to the secretary. The response to this appeal was very satisfactory, the average farmer evidently welcoming the opportunity to assist the children of New Zealand's fallen heroes. The secretary stated recently, however, that there nve still .many of these book's of tickets unaccounted for. Ho has asked us to publish a request that all holders of "books of tickets should remit cheque' in paymont therefor or return the tickets at once. The art union closes finally on •Tune 110, being drawn on July 31. It is therefore a matter of urgency that all tickets should be accounted for within the next, few days, otherwise I here is a risk of these numbers being omitted from the prize-drawing. The prompt notion of those who are holding hooks of tickets would save the committee an enormous amount of correspondence and trouble.
