LIVE STOCK SALES

The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., Pahlatua, report on the undermentioned clearing sales:—At Woodville, on Saturday, we held a- clearing sale of pedigree milking Bliorthorn cattle on account of Mr.-0. R. Hoberte. Only a limited number of buyere attended, tho rough weather, no doubt, affecting tho attendance. • The dairy herd, which included some good quality animals, only met with a fair enie, top price being 27igns., this price being paid for the pood cow Wainui Hose, others selling up io 252n5. Afnxl and backward calvers were not inquired for; 2-year heifers, in calf, realised lip to £7 155.; weaner heifers, £2 15s. to £5: 20-month bulls realised up to £10; 4-year-old bulls, £10 10s. At Ngaturi, on Holiday, tho firm held a clearing sale on account of Mr. W. A. Wallis. Buyers .were present in largo numbers, notwithstanding the rough weather, and n, fairly good sale resulted. The dairy herd -was well and favourably known, ami. altii'nif/li no extremely high prices were realised—top price being .£l6 ■ ss.— yet the herd of 25 made a satisfactory average of £13 10s. per head. Tho milking Shorthorn bull, £13 135.; weaner Jersey cross heifers, to £3 55.; a few purebred' Itonrney sheep realised good prices; m.s. ewes, in lamb, Belling at up to £2 2s. The firm olso sold about JO Jots of purebred poultry, best prices being up to a guinea a- pair for White Leghorn; Silver WyanJottcs to 30s. -a pair; Indian Eunner ducks, 20s. a pair.

•Messrs. Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held Mr. S. K. Lancaster's nnnual sale of p&flisree and grade Jersey cattle on Friday. There was a very good attendance of buyers from all parts of the North Island, and also several Canterbury enthusiasts. Pedigree cows sold at 21, "Z, JO, 32, 53, 39, 40, 41, 45. and 55gns. Other principal sales were:—Pedigreo cow, 70gns., P. E, Day, Tamiihere; pedigree cow, Mgne.. ,P. J. Small. Kairantja; pedigree cow, 75gna., Dunn and Son, Waihou; pedigree cow, 91gne., W. Anderson, Palmerston North; pedigree cow, 74»n5., H. J. Irfiumaster, Glen Oroua; pedigree cow, 70gns., P. J. Small, Kniranga; pedigree heifers, 20 30, 36, 40, 44, and 45gne. Other pnncipalsales were:-Pedigree heifer, S2sns.. f. J. B. Ityburu, Taranaki; pedigree heifer, s!tens., A-. J. Pedigree bulls: There was very little inquiry for these, and the several Bales made wero at prices ranging from 15 to <osns. Grade cows realised 16, 18, 20, 22. 24. 25 to Mena: Grade heifers. £6 10s.. £9. £10, £11 15a., £13, £16 55., £19, to £21 10s. Messre. Dalsety and Co.. Ltd., in conjunction with Levin and Co., Ltd., report having held a sale of pedigree Jersey cattle on account of Jtr. A. Buchanan, "Jersey' Holme," Palmerston North, on June 18. There was a good attendance of buyers, and the following were prices realised—Pedigreo cows, JO, 35, 52,, 61, 100 to ISOens.; pedigree heifers, 28, 39,. 52, to 82?ne. The herd was widely distributed. The purchasers of the highest priced animals were: Messrs. W. Duna and Sons, Waihou: H. E. B. Watson, Canterbury; L. IT. Barriball, Waiuku: J.' H. Street, Bell Block. TaranaUi: S. Jones. Gieborne. Messrs. Dalgety and''Co., Ltd.. report having held the fourth annual breedors ranaignment sale, at the Showgrounda, Palmerston North, on Juno 18. There was a verv good entry of pedieree cattle, the majority being Priesians. There was >ery little demand for any breed of bull, but thera was a very fair inquiry for females of all classes. Friesian bulls sold at 25, 28. 42, 45, to 48gns.; milking Shorthorn bulls, 25 to 40gns.; Jersey bulls. IS, 20 30 to 4fens.; Friesian cows ana heifers,, tS, 47, 60, 66 to 76gns.; Jersey cows, 14 to llessre. Dalgety , and Co., Ltd., Masterton, report having held a very successful clearing sale on account of Mr. p. O. Yule, at "Bleak House," Kaiwaiwai, on Monday. Buyers were present from all parts of tho Wairarapa. and the stock, which were of exceptional quality, met with keen competition and i-ealised very satisfactory prices. Implement!! sold at the following prices :- Tip dray, £25; lime distributor, £26 10a.; hay rake, £22; mower, £20; drill, £39; binder, £30; swamp plough, £24; d.f. ploughs, £11 and £17; roller. £14 10s.; disc harrows, £12 10b.; saw bench, £16.
