OBITUARY
ME. HAMILTON GILMEB, The death occurred at liis residence, 18H the Terrace, last evening of Mr. Hamilton Gilmer, well known in business circles in Wellington. The late Mr. tiilmw was born in Brobmiiekl, Monahiin, Ireland, in 1838, and came out to Australia in iB6O. . In the early 'sixties hi! adventured to Gabriel's Gully, Otago, and Inter to the West Coast. He canm to Wellington in 1881, and engaged in various business enterprises. Ho had larjjo brewery and hotel interests. He whs a prominent; mcnibei of St. Peter's, Church, and was also a member of the Legislative Council—lM7 till 1914. In 1871 Mr. Gilmer paid a visit to his nativo village, and while thero married Miss Hamilton. Ho is survived by his wife, three sons, and two daughtors. The sons are Dr. 11. Gilmer, Mr. Knox Gilmer, both of Wellington, and Mr. Samuel Gilmer (the last-named eaw active service with tho Imperial, forces in Jleso'potamia, and is now in England). The daughters are Mrs. Zielo, of Sydney, and Mrs. Dr. Herbert, of Wellington.
