Ilie secretary of the General Post Office wrote advising that arrangements were being made to extend the attendance at the local telephone e.tchauge from. 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce wroto with reference to the forthcoming conference to bo held next month.-The engineer was appointed cue of the delegates to the conferencc. An application from the Wellington Rugby Onion for permission to charge an entrance fee of 6d. to the Recreation Ground on not more than six Saturdays' during the season was granted. A request from the Lower Uutt A oluti- _ 1 teer Fire Brigado for an ambulance f.istaid box, to be carried on the motor en- | gine in eas-e of accidents at fires, was granted. Three applications for gas connections wero held jiver, it being impossible to grant them nt present on account of the shortago of gas. It was decided to agree lo the selection of Mr. H. Black as the representative of the united districts of Lower Hutt and Eastbourne on the Hospital a.nd Charitable Aid Board. The engineer's report stated that the usual repair work had been carried out. The cvele tracks on the Main Road from Nai Nai Lano to Park Avenue and also tlie tracks in Waterloo and Woburn Roads required attention. Kcrbing and channelling were required in several stroeis in the borough. The engineer also submitted a comprehensive report dealing, with roadways," pavements, sewerage, etc. He reported that the plans of the borough urgently required bringing up to date. Several streets end numerous subdivisions wero not plotted, and positions and lines of sewers, watermains, and storm-water spwers wero either not shown at all or inaccurately. It would be necessary to engage _ a draughtsman for a few weeks io bring the work up to date. The report was adopted.
