PRINCE OF WALES IN SLUMDOM
In order to'investigate the housing conditions of the poor the Prince of Wales paid a visit to.Southwark. .Accompanied by the Duchess- of Jlarlborousrh,' who wns recently elected to the L.0.C.. tlio Prince visited several families in a large block of tenement buildings in Tabard SI roe t. "I see you have no bathroomhe said lo Mrs. Trodd. wlio lives with her two daughters at No. 84. "How do you manage to get a bath?" Mrs. Trodd replied that they heated the water in the copper and. bathed in the bedroom. "That's not very good," said the Prince. Another house visited was No. 81, where llrs. B-illaai lives. The Prince noticed' that the piano was in the kitchen. "Ynn sp".'" Mrs. Bnllnm explained, /'we only linvo two rooms and wc are vcrv fond of music." The Prince afterwards went round Bolh--Icm .Hospital. Aldermnii V,'. -T.
