The bonfire erected mi Mount Eden by tlia Peace Celebrations Committee, and costing iIOO, was prematurely fired by. mischief-makers at eight o'clock on Sunday evening, and totally destroyed. The firo presented a fine" spectacle, despite a steady rain, and was watched by a large crowd of spectators. It led many to believe that peace lwd been signed.
