• NOTES FROM VARIOUS CENTRES . MANAWATU Show Week passed off very orderly at Palmerston North, there being a remark, able absence of drunkenness. One inebiate was before the Court yesterday, and Sergeant Henry stated that this was the first ■ arrest for drunkenness this week. This was a good record, in view of the large influx of outsiders into the town. Palmerston North's appeal on behalf of the District Nurse Fund this week resulted in over £140 being taken up by street collectors. Jlr. J. W. Bramwell and Mr/ Hugh Russell have been appointed to tho Licensing Committee of the district' of Oroiw, in place of Messrs. E. Short and E. Goodbehcre.
