WHARF LABOURER INJURED. Whilst working on the wharf at 5 o'clock last evening a wharf labourer named Paddy Muddy received,a fracture of bis right arm through a tressel falling on : him. After being attended' by a doctor the injured man -was'removed to the Public Hospital. Muddy is a married man, aged .78' years, nnd resides at ■N0.,32 Kent Terrace. DEATH BY ASPHYXIATION./ By TolearaDU—Press Association. Waihi, June 10. A. miner named Charles W. Holmes, married, was found dead in bed this morning. Alongside the lied was a gasving with tubing attached, and the gas turned on. It is presumed that death was caused by asphyxiation. The circumstances point to suicide, althoug i nothing in deceased's manner suggestei that he contemplated taking his life. TWO RETURNED SOLDIERS INJUUED. By TelegraDli—l'll""-' Association. Timaru, June 19. A serious accident occurred iii ilain Street, opposite the Public Gardens, at the south owl of the town to-night in a badly-lighted hollow. AV. Condon, ntock agent for Messrs. Dalgety and Co., was coming into town in a car when he ran into two young returned soldiers, brothers named Bowers, who were walking on the road. One had a thigh fractured and the other had a leg broken above the ankle, and both men sustained wounds about the body. They were taken to the hospital. The injuries are serious, but not dangerous.
