THE EPIDEMIC IN SYDNEY WORST REPORT FOR MONTHS (By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Sydney, June 19. Owing to the depletion of the Postal staff through influenza, letter deliveries in the city have been reduced. It is proposed to close the telegraph offices earlier. There wore thirty-three influenza deaths in the metropolitan area yesterday, the highest return for several months.—Press Assn. LORD JELLICOE. (Kec. June 19, 11.5 p.m.) Sydney, June 19. The functions connected with Lord Jellicoc's arrival on Tuesday have been postponed, owing to influenza. The schools will be closed for another week. —Press Assn. AN INFLUENZA CURE. New York, June 18. . , Dr. Charles Duncan, speaking at the Convention of the American . Medical Association on the cure of influenza, stated that one draohm of infected mucus, pasteurised with filtered water, and injected subcutaneous!}', would effect a spontaneous cure of Spanish influenza, Vneumonia, and catarrh.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ' CASES INCREASING IN SOUTH AFRICA. By Telegraph— Press Association. Christchurch, Juno 19. The Hon. G. W. Russell lias received a cablegram from the Minister of the Interior of South Africa stating that the cases of influenza reported in the Union for the week ended June 34 totalled 1701, including 139 pneumonic, and that there were 134 deaths. Mr. Russell commented that the figures showed a substantial increase on those of the previous week.
