TOTALISATOR PERMITS
STATEMENT BY MINISTER, By Teiesiran''— Prpss Association. Christchurch, June 19. The Minister of Internal Affairs stated to-day that 'he had received numerous applications for increased totalisator permits, but any extension would have to be granted by Parliament, and "nothing could be done until the law was amended. Regarding the proposed special, meetings during the visits of Lord' Jclticoe and tho Prince of Wales. Mr. Russell said that the-same repiarks applied, If permits were available, the' Government would issue them, but alternatively the only possibility was that one of the local duos would sacrifice a day in favour .of the special meeting.
