HEREFORD CATTLE BREEDERS
ANNUAL MEETING. • (Special Eenorter.) Palmerston North, June 18. The annual general meeting of the New Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders Association was held to-day. Tho president (Mr. C. A. J. Levett, Feilding) was in the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet wore adopted. Twenty-two new members were elected. Mr. Levett was re-elected president, Mr. A. Wheeler vice-president, Mr. H. J. Dagg treasurer, and Messrs. F. W. Arbon and C. P. Buchanan members of the council. „ , Tho following trophies were allocated: Best yearling bull, Carterton; best Hereford bull under 18 months, Ho-wke s Bay; best pen of Hereford cross three-year-old steers, Poverty Bay. It was decided to make tho eamo donation of Jls each for small classes at the Man-awatu pedigree stock sale. It was also decided that in the event of tho Wanganui Show not being held, to give tho medal for that, fixture to Dannevirjje for vearling bulls. ■ Tho sum of .£25 was donated towards the Breeders' Club. , The question of preventing owners from entering cattle in the Herd Book some time after tlicy had been born was raised. The consensus of opinion was against such entries being made, and it, was decided to make inquiries so as to refute a statement which had been made that ate entries wero allowed in tho English Stud Book.'
