THE MEN IN EGYPT
Sir,—From the declaration of war till tho signing of the armistice many grave Murders we?e made, mostly through excitement or misunderstanding, at a timo when the issue of the war hung in a doubtful balance. These blunders were to so'nio extent excusable. But now that the issue of the war has be'en decided there is less excuse for 'blundering. Those wlio are responsible for detaining our boys in Egypt, when by right' they ought to be homo in New Zealand, are 6iirely devoid of any. sense of justice and auilty o£ tho worst sort of muddling. Many of these boys have been out there in the desert since 1915, suffering (he worst privations, and this is how they are rewarded/ While their arms in other theatres of war are being sent home, our boys in Egypt are left behind to awelter in >tho desert. who ar» anxiously awaiting fho return of. our brave boys want to know why they are being held back now that they have done tlie duty they so nobly volunteered to do. Can anyone give a.reason? Trusting you. can find space for this in your valuable paper.—l aiu. etc., ' ANXIOUS MOTHER. [The Acting Prime Minister announced yesterday thut he had had advice that the steamer L'iiinaroa would leave Egypt for Now Zealand oil June 21, the Pilsna on June 30, and the Innsbruck on July ,20. He' understood that these boats would bring back our trqpps now in Egypt.]
