RIOTS AT MALTA
TROOPS CHARGE WITH THE BAYONET. (Rec. June 12, 8.5 p.m.) London, June 12, General Sir Herbert Plumer has bean sworn in as Governor of Malta, where serious riots are reported, owing to high food prices and unemployment. The troops charged an unarmed mob, using bayoiiets, and firing several shots. The rioters destroyed the Malta "Daily Chron. icle's" offices. Marines were landed to check looting, and it is belioved thatorder has now been restored.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
