MEETING.OF THli GIRLS' BRANCH. Tho first meeting of tho newly-fonncd Girls' Branch of tho' Navy League Ladies' Auxiliary was held yesterday afternoon in ho Farmers' Iristituto Building, in Feathorstbii Street, which had been lent the auxiliary for tho, purpose. There was a very largo gathering of membors, und Mrs.''J. Darling (lion, secretary of tho Ladies' Auxiliary) presided'. Sire. Hall-Thompson (president of the auxiliary), in the course of a short speech, welcomed the girls, and said she hoped they would bo enthusiastic jiot only in welcoming and entertaining the men i>f the New Zealand battleship, but also in Navy- League work generally. Mr, 11. Darroeh, -secretary of .the Navy League, also gavo.au address, in the course of .which lie . emphasised the aims and objects of the organisation, and said that its. work was.absolutely ron-party, ■non-secretarianrand democratic. Pearson was. appointed to get together' a group of girls to,make arrangements for golf. Each committee had to appoint i.ts own / secretary, who, in addition to carrying out the work of her own particular committee, would assist the Ladies' Auxiliary secretary in, sending out notices, invitations, etc. THo various secretaries were as follow ~ Misses Baggott, Hudson, Shaldres, and Edith Simmons. ' ' , Before the meeting -ended a hearty vote of thanks to tho Dominion "Farmers''lnstitute for .the uso of a Toom was passed. There wero also present at tho meeting -Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. W. Luke, and 'Miss Laurenson,'- all membors of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Navy. League.
